Step-by-Step: Getting Inferno Hide
Unlock The Depths
The Depths is an end-game location. You need to complete the main questline and have access to the underground areas. If you haven't unlocked it yet, focus on progression first.
Get 300+ Luck
Lava Serpent is Exotic tier, so you need at least 300% Luck to have a reasonable spawn chance. I used Fortune Rod (+200%) with Lucky enchant for my farming sessions.
Fish in Lava Pools
At The Depths, find the lava pools (not regular water). Lava Serpent only spawns in lava. Position yourself at the edge and cast directly into the molten area.
Catch Lava Serpent
When you hook a Lava Serpent, it fights hard. Make sure your rod has decent Resilience - I broke 2 rods before switching to one with +80 Resilience. Each catch has about 33% chance to drop Inferno Hide.
My Farming Results
I spent 3 hours farming Lava Serpent to test drop rates. Here's what I got:
At about 6-8 minutes per Lava Serpent catch (including non-Serpent catches), that's roughly 1 Inferno Hide per 20 minutes of active farming.

Pro Tips for Inferno Hide Farming
Bring backup rods. Lava Serpent hits hard. I broke 2 Fortune Rods before I learned to bring spares.
Use Potions. Luck Potion III adds +50% Luck, significantly boosting Exotic spawn rates.
Server hop if empty. If no one's caught Lava Serpent on your server in 10 minutes, try a different server.
