Megalodon Variants (How to Get Each)
- Megalodon (Exotic): the normal hunt. Sells for up to 65,625 C$.
- Ancient Megalodon (Exotic): a rarer variant; the server announces an Ancient Megalodon Hunt. Sells for up to 78,750 C$.
- Phantom Megalodon (Limited): only on real-life weekends, when a hunt starts during an Eclipse or the night after one. On a weekend you can use an Eclipse Totem, then a Megalodon Hunt Totem during the Eclipse. Sells for up to 94,500 C$.

FAQ - How to Catch Megalodon
Why can't I find the Megalodon event?
There is no fixed timer. A Megalodon Hunt starts when someone uses a Megalodon Hunt Totem, or from Disturbance while players fish at Ancient Isle. Each hunt lasts 15 minutes or ends as soon as a Megalodon is caught, and only one runs at a time. Sundial Totems cannot trigger or speed it up.
What rod do I need for Megalodon?
Megalodon weighs 50,000 kg or more, and a rod never hooks a fish whose lightest weight is above the rod's Max Kg. The Rod of the Forgotten Fang holds up to 300,000 kg and has Control 0.22 with +25% Resilience, which helps on a long reel. The Rod of the Depths stops at 30,000 kg, so it cannot catch a Megalodon.
Where do I get Shark Head bait?
Shark Head is a Mythical bait that is not sold on its own. It comes from Sunken Chests, the Personal Aquarium's hourly items and bait crates such as the Quality Bait Crate. Tryhard Worm is the Megalodon's other preferred bait.
How much is Megalodon worth?
At average weight (58,500 kg) a Megalodon sells to NPCs for about 27,300 C$; the heaviest (140,700 kg) sells for about 65,600 C$. With the Mythical mutation (5.5x) the heaviest one would sell for about 360,900 C$. Ancient (up to 78,750 C$) and Phantom (up to 94,500 C$) sell for more.
