How to Get Inferno Hide, Step by Step
Get the Submarine
Talk to Dr Glimmerfin at the Submarine Depot on the north-west side of Roslit Bay (-1305, 130, 310). He builds the Submarine from five parts: Windows, Submarine Top, Side Fins, Metal Panels and Back Fins. The parts used to be drilled from rocks in the bay; the Fisch Wiki now lists the code TEMPORARYSUBMARINE for them.
Dive to the Volcanic Vents
Stay inside the Submarine for the whole trip. Outside it, the water pressure in the caves kills you instantly, and the Glimmerfin Suit does not protect you from that. Use E and Q to rise and sink. The Volcanic Vents entrance is at about (-2745, -2325, 865).
Follow the tunnel to the upgrade cave
You cannot go deeper until you have the Heat Upgrade, so take the side tunnel south-east. It ends in a large cave (-3420, -2275, 3765) with a Submariner, an Inn Keeper, the upgrade station and a portal back to Roslit Bay. The water in this cave only gives ordinary Ocean fish.
Cross the lava obby
A cave to the south leads to an obstacle course with lava geysers that burn you. A Glider or Advanced Glider makes it much easier, though you can do it without one.
Fish the lava pool
At the end of the course is the lava pool. Inferno Hide, Blisterback Blenny, Infernal Iguanafish and the rest of the Volcanic Vents fish all bite here. The Volcanic Rod is sold on a rock in the middle of the pool for 150,000 C$.
The Heat Upgrade: the Three Fish You Need
Inferno Hide is one of three fish the upgrade station in the Volcanic Vents asks for. Catch one of each in the lava pool and hand them in. You get the Submarine Heat Upgrade, which you need to go deeper into the caves, and the Glimmerfin Suit Lvl 1.

Inferno Hide and the Iguanafish turn up often in the pool, the Iguanafish only on windy nights. The Blisterback Blenny is the hard part: it is Mythical and only bites in Summer, in Clear weather, during the day. Check the season before you make the trip, and bring your best Luck setup for it. Watch Your Heat Meter
Your temperature rises everywhere in the Volcanic Vents, and if the meter reaches 43°C you burn to death. Before the Heat Upgrade you have no Glimmerfin Suit, so plan for it:
- Scoria Armor slows the rise. It costs 75,000 C$ in Ashbrook Town once you have 20% of the Scoria Reach bestiary.
- Leave before it peaks. Going into an area without temperature effects resets the meter. The portal in the upgrade cave takes you back to Roslit Bay.
- After the upgrade, the Glimmerfin Suit Lvl 1 stops your temperature from going above 37°C, so heat stops being a problem.
Is Inferno Hide Worth Selling?
Not really. Its base value is 53 C$ at 8 kg, so an average catch of about 5.5 kg sells to the NPC for about C$ 36. Keep the one you need for the Heat Upgrade and sell the rest with your other fish. The money in the Volcanic Vents comes from the rarer fish: an average Blisterback Blenny sells for about C$ 2,368, and an average Magma Leviathan for about C$ 10,038.

The Exotic Magma Leviathan matters later too: it is one of the three Exotic fish that open the large gate past the Calm Zone, on the way to the Veil of the Forsaken where Scylla Hunts happen.

The wiki's Durability rules name Roslit Volcano and Scoria Reach as the lava spots that need a rod with 100 Durability, and its catch table for Inferno Hide includes ordinary rods such as the Training Rod. If your line snaps the moment you cast, you need 100 Durability; the Volcanic Rod sold at the pool has it.
