Reach level 1000 and wish for the rod at Ryusei
Ryusei sits at the top of the mountain on Skycrest, next to the broken windmill (GPS 3208, 1705, 573). He opens up after you complete any Ancient Idol's fifth trial. In his Wish of the Sky menu, pick Astraeus Serenade: that starts Astraeus' Wish, the rod's quest.

Get the Astronomical Fretboard from the Spirit of Darkness
The Spirit of Darkness appears at night in front of the wooden hut on Cursed Isle where the Great Dreamer Rod is sold (GPS 1922, 142, 1134). Give it Driftwood, Resin and a Molten Ripple.

Get the Twilight Pegs from the Spirit of Light
The Spirit of Light sits behind a rock formation in the Glacial Grotto at the top of the Northern Expedition (GPS 20096, 1228, 5395). It only appears at night in Windy weather while you hold a Heavenly Flying Fish. Give it a Blessed Moon Wood.

Have Merlin craft the Dusky Thread
Catch a Breezed, a Serene and a Celestial Radiant Crystal in the Mineshaft, then Merlin can craft the Dusky Thread for you.

Catch the five mutated fish
A Lunar Scrap Metal, a Nova Resin, 2 Serene String, a Breezed Bloop Fish and a Celestial Colossal Ethereal Dragon.

Enter Astraeus' Void and hand everything in
With the Fretboard and Pegs, go to the Underground Music Venue (through the trapdoor after the puzzle in Crystal Cove, GPS 2015, -645, 2460). During Starfall, click the guitar, the drums and the microphone on stage to reach Astraeus. Hand in each item, catch and the 50,000,000 C$, and the rod is yours.
Where the Mutations Come From
Five catches and the Radiant Crystals need a mutation, and mutations come mostly from the rod you hold:
- Breezed: the Wind Elemental (30%).
- Serene: the Duskwire (2%).
- Nova: the Cerulean Fang Rod (15%).
- Celestial and Lunar: check the mutations list for their current sources.
The slowest catches depend on a spawn rather than a chance: the Bloop Fish comes from Bloop Fish Hunts, and the Colossal Ethereal Dragon from its own hunt. See Colossal Ethereal Dragon.
Astraeus Serenade Stats and Ability
+300% Luck, +100% Lure Speed, 0.3 Control, 20% Resilience, no weight limit and Durability 100, enough for Roslit Volcano and Scoria Reach.
Mutations: Astraeus 18% (9.6x), Serene 13% (8.5x), Celestial 11% (4x), Breezed 11% (8.6x) and Nova 11% (6x).
On 10% of catches the progress bar fills the moment the catch starts, and it adds +50% Progress Speed. Every 2.25 to 10 seconds a Flurry of Stars drops 10 stars, each worth +3% progress (+30% in all); during Starfall 6 more stars fall for another +18%.
Best Enchants for the Astraeus Serenade
- Starforged Spirit with Sanctified and Twisted: the wiki's top pick, for weight, resilience and progress speed.
- Greed with Sea Prince: for the heaviest catches; without a Twisted Relic, use Sea Overlord or Sea King.
- Blessed Song with Tryhard: much more progress speed. Immortal if you have no Song of the Deep.
- Rage: a strong stab ability. Piercing or Chaotic if you have no Twisted Relic.

- Perfection of the Stars: Perfect Catch 2 Serene Spectral Serpents. Reward: the Astraeus Bobber.
- Wind of the Gods: Perfect Catch 1 Breezed Profane Leviathan. Reward: a title.
- Astra Divinity: Perfect Catch 25 Astraeus Secret fish. Reward: Firefly Entity, a fish every 3 minutes (60 seconds sooner per Perfect Catch).
