Vesper of the Deep Quests Step by Step
- 1
Get down to The Deep
The Deep is an underwater city on the northernmost side of the map. Sail to the boat floating there (GPS -194, 130, -4669) and swim down below it.
- 2
Talk to Vesper of the Deep in the Lower Deep
Vesper stands in the middle of the Lower Deep, the dark area with purple vents west of Chief Engineer Nereus (GPS 1610, -2830, -11765). Talking to Vesper starts the first quest, Thermal Adaptations.
- 3
Catch 15 fish in the Lower Deep
Any 15 fish caught in the Lower Deep count. Hand them in to get 35,000 C$, 2,800 XP and the Thermal Harpoon, then Vesper gives you the second quest, Scalded Abyss.
- 4
Craft the Titanic Scalder harpoon gun
At the harpoon gun anvil in the Ancient Archives, at Level 200: the Thermal Harpoon, 1 Heat-Proof Metal and 25 Salvage Scrap. The Heat-Proof Metal is the reward for Hunter Dan's harpoon quest in the Outer Deep (harpoon 3 sharks in The Deep and land 5 Perfect Catches in a row); his earlier quests come first.
- 5
Catch 15 Mythical, Exotic or Secret fish with the Titanic Scalder
Only catches made with the Titanic Scalder count, and they must be Mythical or rarer. Fill its heat bar by hitting pulls: a full bar makes the catch Scalded.
- 6
Collect 8 Abyssal Bio-Fluid
Abyssal Bio-Fluid is the rare version of Bio-Fluid, an ingredient some fish of The Deep drop. The best source is the Luminous Hake in the Lower Deep (10%); a Perfect Catch doubles the chance.
- 7
Return to Vesper for the Scalding Hook
Hand in the second quest to get 90,000 C$, 6,500 XP and the Scalding Hook. It costs no C$.
Where to Get Abyssal Bio-Fluid
Some fish in The Deep drop ingredients when you catch them. Abyssal Bio-Fluid is the rare drop on the Bio-Fluid fish. A Perfect Catch doubles each chance, and the Scavenging stat raises it at half strength. Farm Luminous Hake in the Lower Deep: you are already there for the quest, and its chance is the highest.
| Fish | Area | Abyssal Bio-Fluid chance |
|---|---|---|
| Luminous Hake | Lower Deep | 10% |
| Greater Silver Hatchetfish | Outer Deep | 5% |
| Pacific Footballfish | Lower Deep | 5% |
| Humpback Anglerfish | Gloomy Crevice | 2.5% |
| Deep-sea Anglerfish | Gloomy Crevice | 2.5% |
Salvage Scrap for the Titanic Scalder drops the same way: Crushed Diving Helmet (Gloomy Crevice, 50%), Broken Flashlight (Outer Deep, 25%) and Bent Harpoon (Lower Deep, 25%).
Scalding Hook Stats
What the Scalding Hook Does
- +20% Progress Speed all the time.
- Forced Progress Speed builds by 6% a second while the fish is inside your bar, up to +35%, and drops by 6% a second while it is outside.
- Each % of Forced Progress Speed adds 1.7% Scalded chance (9x) and 0.5% Sparkling chance: 59.5% Scalded and 17.5% Sparkling at the cap.
- A bonus fish: 15 to 30 seconds after a catch you get an extra fish from the same pool with the Ashen Fortune mutation (5x), with a 50% chance of a second one. Each Scalded catch cuts that wait by 5 seconds.
Keeping the fish in the bar is what makes this rod pay, and its Control is low (0.12). The resilience guide explains how the bar stats work, and the mutations guide compares Scalded with other mutations. The wiki does not list a best enchant for it yet; the enchantments guide ranks the progress speed enchants.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get the Scalding Hook in Fisch?
Finish both quests of Vesper of the Deep in the Lower Deep. First catch 15 fish in the Lower Deep for the Thermal Harpoon. Then craft the Titanic Scalder, catch 15 Mythical, Exotic or Secret fish with it and bring 8 Abyssal Bio-Fluid. Vesper then gives you the Scalding Hook for free.

In the middle of the Lower Deep, inside The Deep, at GPS 1610, -2830, -11765. The Lower Deep is the dark area with purple vents west of Chief Engineer Nereus.
How do you get Abyssal Bio-Fluid in Fisch?
It is the rare version of Bio-Fluid. Catch Luminous Hake in the Lower Deep: each one has a 10% chance to drop it, doubled on a Perfect Catch. Greater Silver Hatchetfish and Pacific Footballfish drop it at 5%.

What does the Scalding Hook do?
It has +180% Luck, +82% Lure Speed, 30% Resilience and +20% Progress Speed. Keeping the fish in your bar builds Forced Progress Speed up to +35%, and each % adds 1.7% Scalded chance (9x), so 59.5% at the cap. 15 to 30 seconds after a catch it also gives you an extra Ashen Fortune fish (5x).
Is the Scalding Hook good?
It is a strong free rod for money: the Scalded mutation (9x) on more than half your catches at the cap, plus a bonus 5x fish after every catch. Its Control is low (0.12), so it suits players who can keep the fish in the bar.
