How to Get to the Northern Expedition
Sail to the large portal in the southern part of the Ocean at -1750, 130, 3750 and go through it. It drops you in open water a few kilometers off the Northern Summit (18100, 130, 2700); sail on to the island. To go back, sail west from where you arrived to the portal labelled Exit Of The Expedition, which returns you to the Ocean.
Oxygen and Warmth
From the Overgrowth Caves upward your oxygen and warmth drain, and you die when either runs out. Every camp has a campfire that refills your warmth and a station that refills your oxygen tank. The Northern Summit and the Astral Cavern are safe. Wearing a Winter Cloak or the Glimmerfin Suit Lvl 2 together with any oxygen tank stops you dying from either.

The Five Areas, From Bottom to Top
Northern Summit
The base camp (19500, 133, 5300). No cold or oxygen damage here. It sells the Basic Oxygen Tank and the Arctic Rod. The Blue Energy Crystal sits in a cave at 20125, 211, 5448, frozen in ice you break with a Pickaxe.
Overgrowth Caves
The second camp, where the cold and thin air start to hurt. It sells the Beginner Oxygen Tank, the Avalanche Rod and the Pickaxe. The fishing cave is at 20301, 272, 5470.
Frigid Cavern
The third camp (19737, 426, 5588) sells the Summit Rod, the Intermediate Oxygen Tank and the Winter Cloak. A land bridge to the right of its fishing cave leads to the Diamond Puzzle.
Cryogenic Canal
Ladders here climb to the Glacial Grotto. Fish under the bridge (19937, 636, 5709) or in the cave on the main path (20128, 666, 5388). The Astral Cavern below the Conch Cave is one of the Astral Observatory areas.
Glacial Grotto
The summit camp sells the Advanced Oxygen Tank, the Advanced Glider and the Heaven's Rod. The fishing area entrance is at 20000, 1042, 5717, and the Crystal Puzzle is at the back.
Blizzard and Avalanche events only happen here, but their mutations can show up anywhere. The zone borders are buggy: a fishing spot can count as the area next to it.

The Three Puzzles
Diamond Puzzle (Crystalized Rod)
Follow the trail to the right of the Frigid Cavern fishing cave over a land bridge to 19248, 395, 6025. Two players each hold out a Glass Diamond on their pedestal; the beam melts the ice around the Crystalized Rod, which then costs 35,000 C$.
Lever Puzzle (Ice Warpers Rod)
At the end of the Overgrowth Caves camp and the Frigid Cavern camp, a sheet of ice blocks a cave. Break each with a Pickaxe to reach a lever. Finishing the Lever Puzzle lets you buy the Ice Warpers Rod for 65,000 C$ at 19875, 628, 5380.
Crystal Puzzle (Heaven's Rod)
At the back of the Glacial Grotto, place four energy crystals in any order and press five red buttons on other islands: Blue (Pickaxe, cave near the Northern Summit), Green (a shadowy figure in the Frigid Cavern), Yellow (only during an Avalanche) and Red (250,000 C$ from Hiker #12 once the others and the buttons are done).
