The 4 Energy Crystals
The Crystal Puzzle has no set order. Collect the crystals and press the buttons in whatever order suits you, but the Red crystal only unlocks once you have the other three and have pressed all five buttons.
Blue Energy Crystal
Where: Cave by the Northern Summit
Coordinates: 20125, 211, 5449
How: It is frozen in a block of ice. Chip it free with a Pickaxe (5,000 C$).
Green Energy Crystal
Where: Frigid Cavern
Coordinates: 19873, 448, 5556
How: There is a shadowy figure in the cavern. Talking to it gets you the crystal for free.
Yellow Energy Crystal
Where: On the mountain cliffs
Coordinates: 19498, 335, 5553
How: You can only take it while an Avalanche is under way, so wait for the event before you climb up.
Red Energy Crystal
Where: Hiker #12
How: Costs 250,000 C$. Hiker #12 only sells it once you hold the other three crystals and have pressed all five buttons.

With all four crystals placed and all five buttons pressed, the vault door in Glacial Grotto (19986, 906, 5453) opens. Buy the rod inside. Getting it also adds 2,000 XP to your Rod Journal.
Finish the puzzle in one session
Crystals you have placed are not saved when you leave the server. Once the vault is open, though, it stays open for good.

A rough, mutation-only comparison: on average, Heaven's Rod multiplies a catch's value by about 2.75 (35% at 6x, otherwise 1x) and Trident Rod by about 1.9 (30% at 4x). That is roughly 45% more value per catch from the base mutation chance alone, before the height bonus, Mastery, luck, lure speed and enchantments.
Which should you get?
- Below Level 220: Heaven's Rod can't be bought yet. Compare the rods you can afford now, such as Trident Rod and Volcanic Rod (the wiki rates Volcanic Rod above Trident Rod).
- Level 220 with about 1.06M C$: Heaven's Rod is the bigger upgrade in luck and mutation value.
- Level 220 but short on C$: keep saving first. Placed crystals are not saved if you leave, so do the puzzle in one session once you can afford the Red crystal and the rod.

It has +250% Luck and +65% Lure Speed, and a 35% chance to make a caught fish Heavenly. Heavenly multiplies sell value by 6, so a fish worth 1,000 C$ sells for 6,000 C$ with it.
Can I raise the Heavenly chance?
Yes. Fishing above Y-level 150 adds 10 percentage points. The rod's Mastery quest Heavenly Rarities (catch 100 Legendary fish with it) adds 5 more. Mastery for Heaven's Rod opens at Level 300.
Is Heaven's Rod better than Trident Rod?
On stats, yes: +250% Luck against +150%, and a 35% chance of a 6x mutation against a 30% chance of a 4x one. The rod alone costs about 5.3 times as much (800,000 C$ against 150,000 C$) and needs Level 220.
